วันที่ 2 ธันวาคม 2560 ตลกรุ่นใหญ่ เพชร ดาราฉาย ได้เสียชีวิตลงในเวลา 11.00 น. ในวัย 79 ปี จัดพิธีฝังศพวันที่ 3 ธันวาคม ที่จะถึงนี้ ตอน 9.00 น. และพิธีการจะจัดที่มัสยิดนูรุ้ลอิบาดะห์ อ่อนนุช 70

สาเหตุการเสียชีวิตของตลกอาวุโส เพชร ดาราฉาย นั้นเป็นเพราะโรคมะเร็งลำไส้และได้ลามไปถึงช่วงตับ จนทำให้ช่องท้องเต็มไปด้วยเชื้อมะเร็ง
